Civil Defense, Emergencies and Fire Safety in the City

Fire safety, emergency protection, and safety on water bodies are ensured by the Department for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations, and Fire Safety of Moscow and its subordinate organizations.

Several organizations are subordinate to the Department: the Fire and Rescue Center of Moscow, the Moscow Aviation Center, and the Moscow City Search and Rescue Service on Water Bodies. Specialists from these organizations can rightly be called superheroes.

On the "Superhero's Fitting Room" display, you can see special clothing and equipment of rescue services. In the center is the firefighter's combat gear, known as "boyovka." The firefighter's equipment also includes various tools and air tanks for breathing in smoky environments. The full gear weighs about 40 kilograms! Only a superhero can carry that!

To the right of the firefighter's gear is the water rescuer's wetsuit and equipment. This suit allows rescuers to work in both warm and cold seasons. Instead of a life buoy, water rescuers use an "Alexandrov's rope"—a long rope with two floats. It's much lighter and more convenient to use and is named after the sailor who invented it.

On the left, the red outfit belongs to a paratrooper from the Moscow Aviation Center. Using the ring at the front of the suit, they can descend from a helicopter to provide assistance directly at the emergency site.

On the opposite wall, you can see models of various rescue equipment used by Moscow's rescuers.
